- Do not pack your immigration documents (passport, DS-2019, I-797, etc.) in your checked luggage. Make sure that your immigration documents are with you at all times while you are traveling to and from the U.S.
- Make copies of your passport and other immigration documents.
- Keep a copy for yourself
- Leave a copy with someone you trust back home.
- Dress in layers. The temperature of each aircraft, airport, bus, etc., may vary.
- Do not send baggage, parcels, or similar personal effects in care of the university, there are no facilities for accepting or storing personal packages sent in advance. It is less expensive to have packages mailed after your arrival.
- Bring a charger adapter and check the voltage of your electronics.
- Arrive at the airport least 2 hours before your flight is scheduled to leave.
- Always double-check that you have everything with you before getting off of the plane.
As of May 12, 2023 noncitizen nonimmigrant air passengers will no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to board a flight to the United States.

As of June 12, 2022, the CDC will no longer require air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the United States to show a negative COVID-19 viral test or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board their flight.
