Glacier and International Tax Information
Glacier is a tax compliance software for international individuals on UW Payroll, including resident aliens, permanent residents and nonresident aliens. All foreign national employees receiving funds through University payroll must provide their visa/immigration history in Glacier. Following your initial Glacier entry, you will need to deliver all Glacier-generated reports and tax treaty forms, along with your immigration document photocopies. For UW-Madison, that location is 21 N. Park Street, Suite 5101. For all other UW campuses, please ask your HR representative for more information.

Employees must update Glacier with any changes to your status. This includes changes in visa type, extended immigration status, additional paid relationship types such as a fellowship and new departure dates.

If you are continuing employment under the H-1B/E-3/TN 240 day extension rule or H-1B portability rule, you may update your Glacier using the information contained on your I-797C receipt notice if your petition is not yet approved.

IFSS does not process, nor can we provide assistance, with international taxes.
