Starting April 27, 2023, the U.S. Department of State (DoS) will permit designated sponsors of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program to digitally sign and electronically transmit (email or upload) the Form DS-2019 (also known as the Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status). 

This means your RO/ARO (ISS or IFSS) will be able to digitally sign the DS-2019. No ink signature is needed for new programs, amendments, extensions or travel endorsements.
