ISS Office Updates

ISS is switching drop-in advising and advising appointments to a system called Qless. 

• Drop-in advising sign-up starting January 3 will be through Qless (link above).
• Appointments starting January 13 will also be through Qless (link above).

CONTINUING STUDENTS: If you are checking in on an application, we have a maximum processing time of 15 business days (3 weeks).

NEW STUDENTS: the maximum processing time for New F-1 Student requests is 20 business days (4 weeks).
     Appointments are not appropriate for status updates on pending applications. If you make an appointment for a status update, it will be cancelled. Thank you for your continued patience!

1) The ISS Website has answers to many common questions! Please review the information on the website as we work hard to make sure you have access to everything you need to maintain your F-1 or J-1 student status. Please follow the links to specific pages where you can find information about:
 

• Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
• Optional Practical Training (OPT)
• STEM Extension OPT
• Travel 

2) If you have specific questions after reviewing the website, you may:
 

• Come to ISS Drop-In Hours, available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. You may come in-person or call into virtual advising and you will speak with an available ISS advisor. Starting Friday January 3rd 2025 this will be through QLess.
• Submit an Information Request to your ISS Advisor. Please send an information request to your assigned ISS advisor only. This will help prevent duplicate efforts and keep communication streamlined. Please allow a few business days for us to respond. When sending an information request, please include the following:
  • Your preferred name;
  • WiscID number;
  • Complete details about your question/concern.
• Make a virtual appointment with your ISS Advisor. New appointments open every Wednesday. Once you schedule an appointment, you will be sent a Zoom link. Appointments for Monday January 13th and onwards must be scheduled in QLess, not Terra Dotta. When scheduling an appointment, please include:
  • Your preferred name;
  • WiscID number;
  • Details about your questions or concerns. The more details you provide, the better your advisor can prepare for your appointment.
